  1. This trip was an amazing experience! It was a great chance to take a day and relax and get some fresh air. It also gave us an opportunity to not worry about school. (Something we may not be able to do in the coming weeks.) A few complaints shared between the group is the lack of attention we gave to what we were being taught and our surroundings, as we had to divert most of our attention to finding plants to get a good ma

    1. I think that you likely learned/experienced more than what you think you did! Sometimes we don't realize what we've learned or appreciate the experience until later on down the road. It may be in a week, month, or perhaps years in the future. There may be that 1 thing that really stood out for you that hopefully you'll remember for a long time. I do know that I saw a lot of smiles on a lot of faces and sometimes this is the best way to measure the success of trips like these.

  2. We all agree that this trip was fantastic, we really enjoyed being out in nature for the day and learning outside the classroom. It was really interesting learning about the tipi rings and the old church, learning about the people who lived here long before us. We learnt about plants and how we can eat and use some of them to make tea. We also found a huge frog and we even caught it to show the rest of the class. We also talked about how the valley was formed through erosion and the movement of the glaciers. We were all disappointed that we couldn't go up the coulee, it seemed like that would have been a lot of fun. We all had a really good time and are glad we got to have this experience.

    1. Although we couldn't do the coulee hike as much as we wanted to, at least we got a taste of what it was like. It sounds like you learned a lot yesterday (as did I!). Hopefully you'll get the chance to do a trip like this again in the future.

  3. Rk in science. The highest shared point throughout the group was the Outdoor lunch where we got the chance to really take our 2 groups (French immersion and I.B) and essentially become one.

    1. It's nice to have the opportunity like this to work alongside other students who you don't normally have the opportunity to work with.

    1. It's always nice to get the opportunity to mix and mingle with those that you don't normally have the opportunity to. Sometimes the most valuable lessons aren't the ones that we learn in the classroom, instead they are from the interactions we have with others, especially in a different environment like we experienced yesterday! I'm glad you enjoyed the day.

  5. Victoria: I had a really great time on the trip, and am very glad we got to go. Seeing the coulee from above was absolutely breathtaking, I've never seen anything quite like it before. And who would have known this sight was in Saskatchewan the whole time?
I really enjoyed learning about the church and the cemetery. To think these people came to through here over 100 years ago is amazing to think. Hearing the stories about the people in the cemetery and how the church was moved like that is incredibly interesting. I had no idea Saskatchewan had to much history to it, and I'm so glad I do now.
The coulee itself was definitely the highlight of the day. Everything about the day was great. The only thing I didn't particularly like was how windy it was, and that really wasn't much of a problem anyway.
I've never been hiking before and am so glad I got the chance to yesterday. This was an incredible trip, and I'd love to go again.

    1. I agree, the view was quite amazing! We often think of the prairies being nothing but flat so it's great to experience the diverse landscape that we have in Saskatchewan! Hopefully this will spark your interest to get out and explore some more. There is another hidden gem that you should try to make it out to this summer if you get the chance. It's called Wascana Trails and it's about 20 minutes outside of Regina. There are some great trails to hike through as you wander around a creek. Google it some time!

    1. We're glad you enjoyed the trip. There certainly was a lot to take in and experience on the trip. I"d like to hear about what 1 or 2 of your favourite things were about the trip.

    1. Even though you spent a lot of time looking for plants, I'm sure there were many other things about the trip that you took in an experienced. As I mentioned in another post, sometimes it takes some time to realize/recognize other things about the trip that were most memorable. Sometimes the down time (like lunch) are the best parts of the trip because you can relax and just take in some of the natural elements that surround you that we often take for granted and don't always have the opportunity to experience in our hectic day to day life in the city. I'm glad you enjoyed the trip!
